The House GOP majority narrows with Tony Gonzales resignation; Here’s the latest numbers…

The House GOP majority is narrowing with Rep. Tony Gonzales resigning yesterday. Of course, the Democrat minority also narrowed with scumbag Eric Swalwell resigning, so you might say it’s a tit for tat.

However, one of the Dem vacancies from New Jersey is scheduled for a special election tomorrow, and assume a Democrat wins this race, it will be a 3 vote majority by the GOP for a time (not counting an Independent* in California who caucuses with Republicans).

Here’s the numbers as they stand now, with the vacancies listed as well:

With the resignation of Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) effective yesterday at 11:59pm ET, the House announced this morning, the whole number of the House is now 431:

217 Republicans
213 Democrats
1 Independent
4 vacancies: Gonzales R-TX23, LaMalfa R-CA01, Sherrill D-NJ11 & Swalwell D-CA14

A special election to replace Sherrill is scheduled for Thursday.

*Kevin Kiley was a Republican, but switched to an Independent because of California’s new ridiculous Democrat congressional map.
