Rick Santorum has found himself in a leftist controversy over statements he made recently at Young America’s Foundation. I hadn’t seen his statements before because, honestly, they aren’t controversial. But theses race-baiting leftists are in an absolute tizzy over this and want him fired. Chris Cuomo had Rick Santorum on last night to hold him accountable or something.
"I wanted to give you a chance to explain yourself, because that's what this show is about."
Tonight @ChrisCuomo asked Rick Santorum about Santorum's widely-condemned comments on Native American culture – here's the entire clip pic.twitter.com/yXZeIsGnpd

If you watch the clip, and you should, Santorum suggested that America is unique in that it’s culture didn’t really evolve like many other countries which have been around for a really long time. He said that Europeans came here, in large part, because they wanted to be able to practice their faith freely and thus birthed a nation from a clean slate. He said there wasn’t much here other than Native Americans, “but candidly there isn’t much Native American culture in American culture.”
The last part in quotes is what the left is up in arms about and they are claiming, as Cuomo put it, that Santorum was trying to “erase diversity in the name of some white Christian right”, because there is, in some areas, a heavier influence of Native American culture within the US.
Santorum quickly explained that he wasn’t talk about culture in the more general sense. He said he misspoke by using the word ‘culture’, but was referring specifically to “the founding of our country” and the principles embodied in our founding. He didn’t apologize, thankfully, but just clarified what he really meant and how he wasn’t trying to demean Native Americans or forget what was done to them in the past or treat them as ‘other’, which many on the left are accusing him of doing.
Then Cuomo attacked Santorum, accusing him of ‘othering’ people, like homosexuals, by comparing them to beastiality and so on, saying ‘it seems like this is part of your party now’. And of course he took a dig at Trump.
Santorum defended himself from all of that nonsense, but the left is still upset that Santorum didn’t apologize for his comments. Don Lemon was furious and apologized to all of his audience that got triggered over the Santorum interview, raking Santorum over the coals for not apologizing:

Some on the left are upset that Cuomo didn’t call Santorum on the carpet for not apologizing and are demanding that CNN fire Santorum:
.@ChrisCuomo is such a tool.
Tonight he closes his interview with @RickSantorum saying "Well, I wanted to give you a chance to explain…"
Um, Chris…@CNN has given Rick Santorum more than a DECADE of on air time to explain that he is a POS and to spread HATE.
Enough. Okay?

Why is Rick Santorum still at CNN when Reza Aslan, Octavia Nasr and Marc Lamont Hill were let go for much, much less?

Don Lemon says he's "got a solution" for dealing with Rick Santorum's racist lies, but he didn't want to say what it was. So we'll say what Don Lemon couldn't: CNN needs to fire Rick Santorum's racist ass immediately. That's the solution.

I expect that the outrage mob will get their way and that CNN will fire Santorum as a contributor, because that’s just what happens these days. The outrage mob demands something and the left caves. It doesn’t matter that what Santorum said was reasonable and accurate:
It is certainly beyond dispute that there was no "country" before Europeans came here. To claim otherwise is ahistorical revisionist nonsense.
