“Their reputation is well deserved” – Gov. DeSantis slams the “paragons of truth” who lied about him attending the WHCD

Governor Ron DeSantis says he was not at the White House Correspondents Dinner, nor would he ever go because he has no interest in going.

But last night at the dinner it was reported by several in attendance that DeSantis was there, including by Trevor Noah who was the unfunny comedian:

“One of my favorites, Ron DeSantis is here. Oh man, I’m actually surprised that he found the time. You know he has been so busy trying to outmaneuver Trump for 2024. I see you, Ron. I see you, player.”

Here’s a reporter claiming proof that DeSantis was there:

Over an hour later he had to finally admit that he might have been wrong:

DeSantis hammered them for it this morning:

DeSantis said:

“So I would never attend that. I have no interest in that. I do not watch it, I don’t care what they do.

But for them to advertise me when that invitation was rejected by my office, that is a lie. And so here they are saying how important they are, that they’re somehow these paragons of truth, and yet there they are lying about something that is readily verifiable.

So the idea that I was there is false. The idea that would have ever gone is false. Why they would want to perpetuate a lie about that, I don’t know. But I think it just shows you why that cabal of people in DC, New York are so reviled by so many Americans. I think it’s a reputation that’s been well deserved.”

Of all the things I would have thought might be an issue from last night’s WHCD, lying about DeSantis being there wouldn’t have crossed my mind. Like he said, it’s something that’s completely verifiable and clearly they didn’t even try.
