There are nine candidates vying for House Speaker and here’s a few for their key votes and also what’s next…

Since Jim Jordan couldn’t get the votes last week, there are now nine candidates running to be House Speaker this week.

Below is a list of the candidates and how they voted on a few key votes, courtesy of Jake Sherman:

Well that clears things up a little. Emmer looks like a horrible candidate, while Hern and Palmer look great.

From what they say, Byron Donalds has some backing but Emmer is the lead candidate right now. We say McCarthy quickly back Emmer last week.

Honestly, I’m not sure that any of them can get the votes from this fractured Republican Party right now. Conservatives will likely block Emmer and the RINOs will likely block someone like Hern.

So what happens next? Republicans will have a candidate forum tonight to hear from all the candidates and are expected to vote by secret ballot on a nominee tomorrow morning.
