This is why NATO partner Turkey isn’t terribly eager to join the fight against ISIS

A lot of people are wondering why Turkey isn’t helping as much as we’d like with the struggle against ISIS – it’s not just that they’ve made a sharp veer from a moderate Muslim country to a more extremist one in the last few years, it’s also that they have an old grudge against the Kurds.

The Kurds are very closely aligned to the PKK, a designated terrorist group with Leninist ideology that has tried to take down the Turkish government. So it’s kinda like someone asking us to help al-Qaeda in order to attack a greater threat. Wait, that’s kinda what we’re doing with ISIS and the Syrian Rebels. Dammit.
