Socialist Squad member Cori Bush posted a message yesterday for the 4th of July and it just might be the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen:
When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people.
This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.

Bush tweets “When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”
“Black people still aren’t free”???? What a disgusting statement. I’ve been alive for around half a century and I can tell you I’ve never met a black person that wasn’t free. Bush’s statement is beyond absurd.
I think it must be aimed at young people whose brains are still full of mush, who’ve been fed lie after lie about this country and who might just believe something like this.
And it’s not just Cori Bush either. Check this out from USA Today:
🧵 245 years ago today, leaders representing 13 British colonies signed a document to declare independence.
It says "that all men are created equal" — but women, enslaved people, Indigenous people and many others were not held as equal at the time. https://t.co/dtE0z2Uabc

It’s ridiculous just how much these people hate America. They want to live in the past and continue stoking the wounds of victimization in order to create a revolution against this country. They desperately want socialism and will say any ugly, abominable thing to try and make it happen.
Here’s a sampling of reaction to Bush’s atrocious comment above:
I'm a 40-year-old American descendent of slaves. The year is 2021, and I have been "free" my entire life. https://t.co/dkIx4CZtra

If this is true, why are you, a black Congresswoman with a net worth of $2 million who got elected in a district that is 49% white, still living on land that was “stolen?”

Should the United States be dissolved in your opinion and people deported to their ethnic country of origin (rather recent or historical)?

Says a black woman, who is one of only 435 people in all of America currently elected to serve in Congress.
You can stop with the racism now Cori and put your race card back in your pocket.
4th of July is freedom for all from a tyrannical government.
Happy Independence Day!🇺🇸 https://t.co/blWHhJd8TX

Congratulations on being a member of the United States Congress. Not bad for someone who isn’t free. https://t.co/7oMfLYG527

This land was conquered just like all populated land on Earth. And thank God that it was. Our civilization is far superior to what came before it. https://t.co/1sOlAXhFti

When serious people say that CRT is about dividing our nation & attacking its foundation to give a small group of elites control, this is exactly what we are talking about.
Devoid of historical context & thirsty for control, the left marches on. https://t.co/G2JX71UBV6
