To honor Christians and Jews on Holy weekend, New York Times proposes “KILLING” God

I will start right at the top of this with the imagine if. IMAGINE IF they did this on Ramadan and said “Allah” instead of God. I mean after all, if a terrorist invoked Allah, the NYT is very quick to say “it’s just Arabic for God.” So it’s not that different then, is it?

But they would never, ever dare to publish an oped that said it was time to “pass over” or “kill” God on a Muslim holiday. Instead, they save that honor for this Holy weekend, when people of the Jewish faith are celebrating Passover and Christians are celebrating Easter.

It even came with an incredibly offensive drawing of God. We know for a FACT they wouldn’t do that if it were that other religion, don’t we.

And don’t misunderstand, it’s not a mere coincidence of timing. The oped against God specifically invokes the two holy events of two of the biggest religions on Earth.

This weekend, Jews around the world will celebrate the holiday of Passover, the name of which comes from the story of God “passing over” the homes of our distant ancestors on his way to slaughter the first born sons of evil Egyptians. Our forefathers, the story goes, marked their doorposts with lamb’s blood in order to spare their own sons the awful fate of their enemies.

In this time of war and violence, of oppression and suffering, I propose we pass over something else:

God.

The author, showing he learned zero from the religious upbringing he claims to have had, describes the Old Testament story of Exodus as “gruesome tales of torture and persecution.”

Objecting to the plagues of Egypt, the author puts the religious message in modern diversity terms, making it about some tale of misbegotten racism. “Surely, I wondered, there were some Egyptians who didn’t whip Jews, who didn’t have anything against Jews at all?” As if the wrath of God was directed at the personal racial or national prejudices of individual Egyptians.

I don’t have much Faith in this writer’s supposed religious upbringing.

“If he were mortal, the God of Jews, Christians and Muslims would be dragged to The Hague. And yet we praise him. We emulate him. We implore our children to be like him,” this blasphemer writes for the newspaper of record in a deliberate religious attack published purposefully on Good Friday.

“Killing gods is an idea I can get behind,” he says with every ounce of smug hubris he can muster.

And his claim? His supposed point? What he pretends it’s about? “Peace.”

That’s what we religious people call a lie, buddy. You didn’t write this on Good Friday because of some weird tacked on moral lesson squeezed in at the end of your heinous article. You just wanted to spread your hate.

Tolerance doesn’t include religious belief for liberals like those at the New York Times. Not certain religious beliefs anyway.

Despicable. But typical.
