Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are set to introduce a resolution condemning the illegitimate House impeachment inquiry at 3pm:
DC EXAMINER – South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plan to introduce a resolution Thursday “condemning the House of Representatives’ closed door, illegitimate impeachment inquiry.”
Graham and McConnell have been leading the Senate GOP’s criticism of the House impeachment proceedings, which has taken place almost entirely behind closed doors since it began in late September.
McConnell called the House impeachment proceedings “grossly unfair” and said Trump “has legitimate concerns about the process.”
Only three House committees are included in the closed-door impeachment proceedings, which are now centered on deposing current and former Trump administration officials.
I know it’s just a non-binding resolution, but it will be interesting to see who votes for it and against it. And who doesn’t vote at all.
According to Politico, some Republican Senators are remaining mum on the impeachment proceedings because they seem themselves as potential jurors of an impeachment trial and feel they shouldn’t prejudge it.
So it does have some value even if it’s not what we were hoping out of Lindsey Graham, who promised to call Volker to testify if Republicans didn’t release the transcript.
