Andrew Zimmern is the host of Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel, a pretty good show if you have the stomach for it. But it’s not weird food that has Zimmern in hot water today. Twitchy has a post up about Zimmern’s twitter feed that is really shocking. As reported at Twitchy, Zimmern had a problem with recent comments made by Elizabeth Hasselbeck on a taping of Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends. Here is the tweet:

Nick Adams argued in his new book “American Boomerang” that men around the world are no longer allowed to be “manly.” In an appearance on Thursday’s “Fox and Friends,” he said it was a “dangerous” phenomenon, claiming, “American men are of course very susceptible to it. It’s really important particularly in America given the leadership role that America has in the world that American men be allowed to be men.”
“Is this in direct relation to feminism on the rise?” Hasselbeck asked. “Is it a result just sort of society seeing men that are not as masculine and men that are as masculine being kind of demonized?”
“Elisabeth, you’ve hit the nail on the head,” Adams said.
“Do you see this affecting national security, how a nation operates in terms of being a strong presence globally?” Hasselbeck asked later.
So what Zimmern objects to is apparently his perception that what Hasselbeck has to say is “anti-feminist”. Got that? That’s important, so keep it in mind.

As Twitchy points out, this kind of attack on conservatives is not unique:
“Mandigo” is a racially-charged crude sexual phrase and the vulgar “run train” has a violent connotation. Unfortunately, this is far from the first time conservative women have experienced these kinds of attacks. A few years ago, a leftist radio host said Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch “pulled a train.”
Seriously. Zimmern tweets that youtube chef Maria Milano is “probably right” that Hasselbeck has “a Mandingo train run on her” every weekend. So he objects to a comment that is anti-feminist by endorsing a disgusting and vulgar tweet about a woman?? Bizarre indeed.
As a fan of the show, the instinct is to try and make an excuse for the host. But there simply isn’t one. This isn’t just some throwaway tweet. It was a reply to a vile comment that he should at least have ignored, at best have condemned, and under no circumstances have endorsed.
Update: Milano explains that there was nothing wrong with her tweet, you idiot conservatives.
