Trump asks the Supreme Court to override the Ninth Circuit ban on new asylum policy

Trump isn’t happy about the Ninth Circuit ban on his presidential order barring asylum for anyone crossing into the country illegally.

Instead of waiting for the courts to hear the case, he’s going straight to the Supreme Court to get the Ninth Circuit ban overturned:

BUZZFEED – The Trump administration went to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, seeking an order that would allow it to enforce its new policy barring asylum claims by those who cross into the country on the southern border without authorization.

Justice Elena Kagan has called for a response to the Justice Department’s request by noon Monday, December 17.

On Dec. 7, the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit denied the Justice Department’s request to put on hold a district court judge’s order that halted the policy’s enforcement.

“The nationwide injunction is deeply flawed and should be stayed pending appeal and, if necessary, further proceedings in this Court,” Justice Department lawyers told the Supreme Court in Tuesday’s filing requesting a stay

I don’t blame them one bit for trying to enforce the policy. If someone abides by the law to request asylum, then until Congress changes the law they can request it. But the notion that someone can come into the country illegally and then request asylum is ridiculous.

And hopefully the Supreme Court will see it Trump’s way and he can at least enforce the policy until a verdict is rendered.
