Trump blasts COVID relief bill passed by Congress, demands they amend it to give people more money

Trump just released a video blasting the COVID relief bill passed by Congress, demanding they amend it so that people get far more money than simply $600 per person:

Here’s a bit more from Fox News:

President Trump slammed the recently passed $900 billion COVID-19 relief package as a “disgrace” on Tuesday evening, urging Congress amend the bill to increase the direct payments given to Americans.

“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple,” Trump said in a video posted to Twitter.

In addition, Trump is demanding that lawmakers “get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items” from the legislation, “or else the next administration will have to deliver a COVID relief package”

“Maybe that administration will be me,” Trump added. “And we will get it done.”

I don’t think any of Trump’s demands will be met. Both the House and the Senate passed it with veto-proof majorities and they can easily override a veto.

In terms of a pocket veto, where Trump just holds on to the bill until the session of Congress expires, it looks like they got the bill passed with a few too many days left for him to do something like that.
