Trump cheers on the END of the Korean War…

It sounds like things are looking promising after the meeting between Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in. Last night we posted on their historic handshake in the DMZ.

This morning the president tweeted several times, cheering on the end of the Korean War as he suggested how proud we should be for what is happening over there:

NY POST – President Trump cheered the “end” of the Korean War on Friday following a historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

“KOREAN WAR TO END! The United States, and all of its GREAT people, should be very proud of what is now taking place in Korea!” he wrote.

The two countries technically remain at war since a peace treaty was never signed after the 1950-53 Korean War. However, despite Trump’s tweet, Kim and Moon have not yet declared an official end to the conflict.

Instead, they agreed at the summit to work to remove all nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula and pursue talks with the US in hopes of finally declaring the war as over.

Still, Trump tweeted his optimism over the meeting, which marked the first time a North Korean leader had crossed over the border into the South.

“After a furious year of missile launches and Nuclear testing, a historic meeting between North and South Korea is now taking place,” Trump wrote. “Good things are happening, but only time will tell!”

Trump also credited his “good friend” China President Xi Jinping with helping bring the two countries together.

While things may look and sound promising, I still have to say I’m extremely skeptical that this will amount to anything substantial. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for Kim Jong Un to be the dictator to denuclearize the country and finally end the Korean war, eventually reunifying the Korean peninsula. I’d also love for him to stop persecuting Christians and others in his country.

But it all still sounds too good to be true and my fear is that Un is simply conning the world, just because he can. As Trump said in his tweet, time will tell if this is really legitimate or not.
