In an interview with the LA Times, John Kelly says Trump abandoned the idea of a concrete wall a long time ago:
NY POST – “To be honest, it’s not a wall,” Kelly told the Los Angeles Times in an interview that was published Sunday.
“The president still says ‘wall’ — oftentimes frankly he’ll say ‘barrier’ or ‘fencing,’ now he’s tended toward steel slats,” he added. “But we left a solid concrete wall early on in the administration, when we asked people what they needed and where they needed it.”
Kelly, who is leaving the administration on Wednesday, said Customs and Border Patrol officials told him when he served as Homeland Security secretary that along with a physical barrier, they needed increased technology and more agents.
So this morning, in typical Trumpy fashion, the president said he never abandoned the way and that parts of it will still be concrete:
An all concrete Wall was NEVER ABANDONED, as has been reported by the media. Some areas will be all concrete but the experts at Border Patrol prefer a Wall that is see through (thereby making it possible to see what is happening on both sides). Makes sense to me!

Actually it does make a lot of sense. But really, who cares as long as it is a formidable barrier to prevent people from illegally crossing our border. Whether it’s ‘steel slats’ or a big plexiglass barrier, as long as it accomplishes the task it’s built to do then I’m ok with it.
And honestly, it’s totally ok for the idea of a concrete wall to be abandoned for something more useful to the border patrol. I’m not sure why Trump has to take issue with Kelly’s comment.
In related news, Trump also tweeted about Syria this morning…
If anybody but Donald Trump did what I did in Syria, which was an ISIS loaded mess when I became President, they would be a national hero. ISIS is mostly gone, we’re slowly sending our troops back home to be with their families, while at the same time fighting ISIS remnants......

...I campaigned on getting out of Syria and other places. Now when I start getting out the Fake News Media, or some failed Generals who were unable to do the job before I arrived, like to complain about me & my tactics, which are working. Just doing what I said I was going to do!

.....Except the results are FAR BETTER than I ever said they were going to be! I campaigned against the NEVER ENDING WARS, remember!
