Trump tweeted this morning that he’s got a good track record of predicting Republican congressional races, including his own in 2016, and based on that and the victories we’ve seen this year, he assures us that Republicans will do well in 2018:
Remember, Republicans are 5-0 in Congressional Races this year. The media refuses to mention this. I said Gillespie and Moore would lose (for very different reasons), and they did. I also predicted “I” would win. Republicans will do well in 2018, very well! @foxandfriends

Some suggested Roy Moore losing to Doug Jones was predictive of what would happen in 2018. However that race was embroiled in several sexual misconduct controversies and I’m just no sold on the notion that because a Republican lost in a deep red state, that 2018 will follow suit for Republicans.
However, Republicans couldn’t fully repeal Obamacare as they promised and that is a huge problem, especially with premiums continuing to skyrocket.
Even if they get tax reform done this week and set it in motion for 2018, any gains – at least for individuals – may be offset by the huge Obamacare premiums and deductibles people are having to pay.
So I’d like to believe that Trump is correct, but I just think it’s too early to be that confident.
