Trump is not attending WH Correspondents Dinner, BUT…

The news broke this morning that Trump will not be attending the WH Correspondents Dinner.

For the second year in a row, President Trump is snubbing an annual celebration of the White House press corps.

The president said in a radio interview that is “probably” skipping the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner.

Then the association said it had been told by the White House that he will not be coming.

I know, big shocker. But really, why should he? The press loathes him so I can’t blame him for staying away.

But that said, he is sending Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to represent him:

“The White House has informed us that the president does not plan to participate in this year’s dinner but that he will actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment,” Talev wrote in a statement.

“In keeping with tradition, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders also will represent the administration at the head table. The April 28 dinner celebrates award-winning reporting, scholarship winners and the vital role of the First Amendment and the free press in American democracy.”

So she won’t be on stage or anything. But I do feel for her being a hostile environment like that.
