Trump request for fourth debate denied…

As you know Trump has been pushing for a fourth debate between he and Biden before voters begin sending in their voters. In fact he tweeted about it this morning:

“How can voters be sending in Ballots starting, in some cases, one month before the First Presidential Debate. Move the First Debate up. A debate, to me, is a Public Service. Joe Biden and I owe it to the American People!”

You’d think this would be a fair request, but the Commission on President Debates apparently doesn’t think so:

DC EXAMINER – The Commission on Presidential Debates reportedly rejected the Trump campaign’s request for a fourth debate and balked at their suggestions for moderators.

The organization responsible for planning the presidential debates responded to Rudy Giuliani, who suggested a fourth debate ahead of the agreed-upon three and included a list of potential moderator recommendations, by rejecting both on Thursday, according to numerous outlets.

The commission declined the fourth debate, specifically addressing Giuliani’s argument that some mail-in ballots would be cast before any debate had been held.

“In your letter, you express the Trump campaign’s interest in a presidential debate in early September. You state that such a debate is necessary because some states begin sending out mail-in ballots before the first scheduled debate. There is a difference between ballots having been issued by a state and those ballots having been cast by voters, who are under no compulsion to return their ballots before the debates,” the letter reads.

In the Commission on Presidential Debates letter to Giuliani, they also dismissed his suggestions for debate moderators, which included journalists and commentators from Fox News, CBS News, ABC News, and NBC News, but no one from CNN.

They may be under no compulsion, but they might still do it anyway. In fact many of them probably will.

I’m not sure how many votes it would change to be honest, but it’s still a fair request. The Biden campaign, of course, isn’t going along with it either. So unless something changes, it’s not going to happen.
