El Presidente Trump went on the offensive against the NFL once more in a tweet he posted just hours before the kickoff for the Sunday games of the first week of the season.
And he’s mocking them for their low ratings:
Wow, NFL first game ratings are way down over an already really bad last year comparison. Viewership declined 13%, the lowest in over a decade. If the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back? Otherwise worse!

He’s right. We posted on the ratings for the first game on Thursday, and the ratings are way down. On the other hand, the game was late an hour, and as I’ve noted before, television ratings are down across the board. The real test will be the ratings for today’s games, and if they’re lower than the average TV ratings drop. But it’s pretty clear that Trump thinks this is a winning issue for him and he is going to beat this drum as hard as possible ahead of the midterms. Also, #MAGA!!!
