A few moments ago Trump tweeted that the ‘fake news’ is putting out false statements about Trump trying to set up a negotiation with Iran:
The Fake News put out a typically false statement, without any knowledge that the United States was trying to set up a negotiation with Iran. This is a false report….

To be honest, I’m just getting back from Mass and I’m not sure which report he’s referring to since he didn’t name the fake newser in question.
But clearly he wants Iran to call him when they are ‘ready’, which doesn’t seem likely to happen very soon to me.
As Hume pointed out with China, the Ayatollahs of Iran don’t seem to be very moral in the way they treat their people so my guess is they are ready and willing to ride this out no matter how much it’s hurting their people.
As a side note, after watching Ted Cruz grill that under secretary from the State Department last week, it wouldn’t surprise me if there were some elements of Trump’s administration going rogue on this.
