President Trump surprised literally everyone in the national press on Tuesday when he tweeted that he is cutting off the ratings and fundraising trough Democrats had set up for themselves by screwing over the American people in their refusal to work with Republicans on the coronavirus stimulus package.
“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business,” said Trump in the boss tweet thread. “I have asked… Mitch McConnell not to delay, but to instead focus full time on approving my outstanding nominee to the United States Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett.”
Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19. We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their…

The media is in full-on fake head-scratch mode about it.
I truly don't understand this, and nor do a number of people who advise the president. It's like he's trying to lose. https://t.co/GNOwrZEhx9

I will never understand how a president who has time and time again demonstrated he acts first in his own self interest is refusing to accept an offer to spend $2.2 trillion boosting the economy weeks before facing voters in his reelection bid. It makes no sense.

Jake Tapper really laid it on thick on-air. “This is a political self-inflicted wound. I don’t really understand it. He doesn’t care about the deficit, President Trump, he’s made that clear. Why would he want to be seen stopping struggling people from getting money a month before the election?”
But their pretense is just an excuse to bash him, as Kasie Hunt just exemplified, and avoid covering the fact that all those affected states would’ve long ago had the bill if Democrats led by Pelosi and Schumer weren’t DELIBERATELY refusing to deal for the EXPRESS PURPOSE of election sabotage.
The media is just playing right along with it, because that’s how they do things. And because they Just. Don’t. Get it.
