Trump suggests that maybe we delay the November election to avoid mail-in voting…

This morning Trump has tweeted a couple times on how bad universal mail-in voting will be, with the second tweet raising the possibility of delaying the November vote to avoid it:

“Mail-In Voting is already proving to be a catastrophic disaster. Even testing areas are way off. The Dems talk of foreign influence in voting, but they know that Mail-In Voting is an easy way for foreign countries to enter the race. Even beyond that, there’s no accurate count!”

“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???”

Notice that Trump differentiates between mail-in voting and absentee voting, which he said is ‘good’. But NBC News claims that mail-in voting is ‘reliable’:

“Established reliability” what? They are clearly conflating absentee voting with mail-in voting, which Trump is NOT talking about. These newsers always do this, suggesting they are one in the same. But they are not.

In any event it would take an act of Congress to actually move the November election, so clearly that isn’t going to happen. But I think what Trump is doing here is trying to get people’s attention to the fact that mail-in voting is so dangerous in terms of the potential for fraud. And clearly, judging from all the tweets about this already, he’s set Twitter on fire on the issue. Can’t wait for the next press briefing…
