Trump threatens to move RNC to a different state, says NC gov is still in ‘shutdown mood’

North Carolina’s Democrat governor Roy Cooper won’t give Trump any definites regarding the RNC in August, so Trump is now threatening to move it to a different state to ensure all the planning and money spent isn’t a complete waste:

For those who can’t see the tweets, Trump said “I love the Great State of North Carolina, so much so that I insisted on having the Republican National Convention in Charlotte at the end of August. Unfortunately, Democrat Governor, @RoyCooperNC is still in Shutdown mood & unable to guarantee that by August we will be allowed full attendance in the Arena. In other words, we would be spending millions of dollars building the Arena to a very high standard without even knowing if the Democrat Governor would allow the Republican Party to fully occupy the space. Plans are being made by many thousands of enthusiastic Republicans, and others, to head to beautiful North Carolina in August. They must be immediately given an answer by the Governor as to whether or not the space will be allowed to be fully occupied. If not, we will be reluctantly forced to find, with all of the jobs and economic development it brings, another Republican National Convention site. This is not something I want to do. Thank you, and I LOVE the people of North Carolina!”

The RNC is basically three months away so it makes sense that Trump is needing guarantees right now, especially with the money they intend to spend. The problem is that NC just entered phase two, which is supposed to last 4-6 weeks, and I’m sure Cooper is worried about a resurgence of the virus, which is why he’s not ready to make any guarantees yet.

If I were Trump I’d go ahead and move it to another swing state where he can get a guarantee from the governor that they will be a full capacity in August. Maybe Ohio or Florida?
