President Trump is making headlines again today in his interview with Leslie Stahl where he implies that General Mattis might leave.
Then he calls him “sort of a Democrat”:
Here’s an alternate video for those having trouble with the YouTube vid:
WILL MATTIS LEAVE? “General Mattis is a good guy. We get along very well. He may leave. I mean, at some point, everybody leaves,” President Trump tells Lesley Stahl for @60Minutes https://t.co/kYresbc0JT pic.twitter.com/3Rq8rVjb0G

Wow. With anyone else you could argue those sentiments are unconnected, but with Trump it’s much more likely that he’s calling Mattis a Democrat because he’s unhappy with him. And indeed, many have noted that while Trump gets to say whatever he wants, there are elements in his administration that appear to DO whatever they want, even when it’s in contradiction to what the president says. Like, Nikki Haley, for instance… who… just announced she’s leaving the admin. Hmmmmm.
On the other hand, Trump is right – it’s very normal for admin members to leave the job during a 4 year term. Still, it would be tough to see Mattis go. It’s one reason Trump critics are given cover to trust the admin more than they would otherwise…
