Trump wants to BUST UP the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals!!

El Presidente Trumpo is so angry at the Ninth “nutty” Circuit Court of Appeals for shutting him down twice, that he wants to grab them by the jurisdiction and bust’em up good.

The Washington Examiner got the scoop:

President Trump said Wednesday that he has “absolutely” considered proposals that would split up the 9th Circuit, where judges have blocked two of his executive actions.

“There are many people that want to break up the 9th Circuit. It’s outrageous,” Trump told the Washington Examiner during a far-ranging interview at the White House on Wednesday.

“Everybody immediately runs to the 9th Circuit. And we have a big country. We have lots of other locations. But they immediately run to the 9th Circuit. Because they know that’s like, semi-automatic,” Trump said.

This would have sounded pretty drastic to me, except the GOP had been seeking to do this even before Trump!!

Republicans have long criticized the 9th Circuit for its perceived liberal leanings and its enormous geographical reach, which has led to bureaucratic backlogs.

GOP lawmakers have repeatedly introduced legislation that would carve out several states under the 9th Circuit’s jurisdiction and create a new court designed to lighten the Ninth’s caseload.

The Ninth just recently shut down his order on sanctuary cities, and they previously slammed their gavel down on his travel ban.

So is this like FDR getting angry at the Supreme Court and trying to “pack the court” with more justices to approve his authoritarian government? Not quite. That move was so egregious that even Democrats, his own party, told him to cut it out. In this case, it’s something the Republicans have been seeking before, so it’s not quite as extreme as FDR. That won’t prevent Democrats from making it appear so, however.
