Trump weighs in on Drew Brees, says he shouldn’t have apologized…

Trump just weighed in on Drew Brees, saying he shouldn’t have issued an apology over his comments on the American flag and the national anthem:

“I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. OLD GLORY is to be revered, cherished, and flown high. We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag – NO KNEELING!”

Honestly, I wish Trump wouldn’t say stuff like this, because it’s almost going to guarantee that some players will kneel during the national anthem this year, pissing off fans everywhere. And they’ll do it just to spite him because he said ‘no kneeling’.

Otherwise I agree with Trump’s sentiment here. As we told you yesterday, Drew Brees apologized for what I thought were fantastic comments.

Then he followed up that apology with another one, so people could see how serious he was by looking into his eyes:

Brees should have stood his ground and never apologized in the first place, something he’s probably figured out by now. He just looks so weak and pathetic in that video. And what’s worse is that the mob doesn’t care about his apology. Once you “mess up” the first time, there’s no going back.
