President Trump weighed in on Elon Musk’s plans to purchase Twitter today, saying he hopes Musk will make improvements to but he’s not going back:
FOX NEWS – Former President Trump will not return to Twitter, even as Elon Musk purchases the social media company and reinstates his account, instead using his own TRUTH Social as the sole platform for his voice.
Twitter, on Monday afternoon, announced it agreed to be acquired by Musk for $44 billion.
The former president told Fox News Monday that he will formally join his own TRUTH Social over the next seven days, as planned.
“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”
Trump told Fox News he will begin “TRUTHing” over the next week.
Honestly I don’t blame Trump for not wanting to return to Twitter on the news of Musk buying the platform after the way he’s been treated.
Why would Trump want to put his social media fate in the hand of someone else, especially when he has already built his own social media platform.
Add to that the part his new Truth Social platform will play as he runs for re-election in 2024. It will be the one place where he will have a voice and no one can take it away or threaten it. I would probably make the same decision.
That said, it’s high time Truth Social gets its act together and becomes a true competitor to Twitter. I’m not currently using it because it’s way too limited for what I do. I’ll be glad when that changes.
