A few minutes ago Trump tweeted about the new revelations that Michael Flynn was under investigation during the 2016 election. Previously it was thought that his phone call with Kislyak was the impetus for the Russia investigation, but Flynn was already under investigation before that.
Here’s what Trump had to say:
It now seems the General Flynn was under investigation long before was common knowledge. It would have been impossible for me to know this but, if that was the case, and with me being one of two people who would become president, why was I not told so that I could make a change?

Catherine Herridge weighed in on this today as well in a Fox News report:
Herridge points out, among other things, that in all of Mueller’s interviews with Flynn, Mueller nor his team never mentioned that Flynn was under investigation during the 2016.
She also notes that, regarding the communications Trump lawyers had with Flynn before and after his guilty plea, that they were trying to protect privileged information.
