Jim Acosta is getting all uppity over the fact that Trump won’t accept blame for the coronavirus pandemic even though it was clearly China’s fault. Here’s what he tweeted during the press briefing today:
Scapegoats blamed by Trump for Coronavirus pandemic:
World Health Organization
Members of News Media
Democrats in Congress
Governors
(Not himself)— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) April 14, 2020
Other scapegoats blamed by Trump:
China
Obama administration— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) April 14, 2020
Notice that Acosta labels all of these as ‘scapegoats’ as if they are all innocent. Notice who is on the tweet above: China!
As a Chinese person this is disgusting because you think China should somehow be absolved of responsibility because… why, exactly? China is responsible for the coronavirus pandemic and they must be held to full account. https://t.co/ld1an3AoFU

How exactly is China a scapegoat when they are responsible for all of this? Acosta is just being ridiculous now.
I have to say, I did enjoy this tweet by Dan Bongino in response to Acosta’s tweet:
Scapegoats blamed by Acosta for the Wuhan Virus pandemic:
-Trump
-Donald Trump
-President Trump
-The POTUS
-Donald J. Trump
-Mr. Trump
-The President https://t.co/2b50JOCdUd— Dan Bongino (@dbongino) April 14, 2020
Here’s what bugs me about all of this. Yes Trump did tweet in January that he thought China was being transparent and working hard to control the virus. But that’s also what the WHO was saying at the time, which we noted a week ago here. But Trump tweeting this was not even remotely the same as WHO ignoring Taiwan’s December warning that the virus was spread person to person, instead just going with China’s propaganda:
Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China🇨🇳. pic.twitter.com/Fnl5P877VG
— World Health Organization (WHO) (@WHO) January 14, 2020
Further, while the country was focused on Pelosi’s impeachment garbage, the Trump administration was trying to investigate what was going on in China as well as offering our own CDC experts to help China with the outbreak, as Ryan Saavedra points out:
MSNBC's Ari Melber is a liar
TA=Trump admin
1/3: TA offered to send CDC to China
1/5: 2nd offer made
1/14: WHO says no human-to-human transmission
1/20: TA announces work on vaccine
1/29: TA created Coronavirus Task Force
1/30: WHO declares emergency
1/31: TA bans China travel https://t.co/wgPvYD6i2w pic.twitter.com/FO1HJ0uZi9— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 14, 2020
I haven’t verified this exact timeline, but I do know the Washington Post dug into this when debunking claims Biden made on this issue and noted that yes, the Trump administration did offer to send CDC experts to China early in January. Here was their final summary:
In both instances, Biden leans a little too hard on his skis. He could make a case that Trump’s efforts to gain access for medical experts to China lacked vigor or were ineffectual; he cannot say there was no effort. As for being foresighted enough to make this case early on, Biden did not explicitly call for it until near the end of February, so that appears exaggerated.
The administration at various levels sought access for CDC experts — and as noted earlier, an administration official, speaking not for attribution, says an offer to send staff was made at the presidential level. Whether Trump didn’t “put pressure” on Xi behind the scenes remains unclear, though Trump’s public comments and tweets do not indicate much pressure. But, given Chinese sensitivities, perhaps no amount of pressure would have worked. It’s a lesson in how relations between leaders do not make much difference when national interests are at stake.
They gave Biden three pinocchios for his false claims. But my point is that the Trump administration was actively trying to investigate the situation, offering China support and issuing warnings and emergencies, all the while also relying on WHO for information about the virus since they were on the ground in China and, well, they ARE the World Health Organization.
For reporters like Jim Acosta to pretend this is the same in any way just shows their TDS is getting more out of control the closer we get to November.
