Turns out it was NOT a tampon and maybe not even malicious…

Remember this disgusting story where a police officer thought he pulled a tampon out of his Target Starbuck’s coffee? Well that was over a month ago and it’s now been determined that it was a cleaning rag that may have accidentally fallen into the officer’s frappuccino:

NY POST – California detectives determined it was a possible cleaning cloth, not a tampon, that was found inside an off-duty LAPD cop’s Starbucks drink last month — and were reportedly unable to prove the store employee acted maliciously.

“Based on the evidence available at this time, the item in the drink was possibly a cleaning type cloth commonly used by store employees,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in a police report obtained by the outlet.

“The investigation was unable to prove malicious intent on the part of the store employee,” Villanueva wrote.

Villanueva said detectives reviewed store surveillance footage and interviewed the employee and officer.

“Unwittingly”

Sources from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told FOX 11 that the barista admitted to scooping a cleaning cloth that had fallen and unwittingly blending it into the officer’s drink.

The worker was apologetic, sources told the outlet.

I find it hard to believe that a cleaning cloth was ‘unwittingly’ blended into the police officer’s frappuccino, but I suppose it’s possible. They can’t prove malicious intent though, so I guess it’s all moot at this point.
