UGH: Kevin McCarthy calls on Gov. DeSantis to end his ‘feud’ with Disney

Kevin McCarthy went on CNBC yesterday and did his part to undermine what Governor DeSantis is doing to bring Disney back under the same rules as other corporations and businesses in the state of Florida.

Here’s a recap from Newsweek:

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy has joined a growing list of Republicans urging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to reel in his crusade against Disney.

McCarthy said during a Thursday interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box that DeSantis should attempt to “sit down and negotiate” with Disney instead of attempting to wage a legal battle against the company.

“Why wouldn’t you sit down and negotiate and talk?” McCarthy said of the governor’s feud with Disney. “If there’s differences, you can always find ways that you can solve this problem. If you think that the only action is to go to court, I believe that’s wrong.”

“This is a big employer inside Florida,” he added. “I think the governor should sit down with them. I don’t think the idea of building a prison next to a place that you bring your family is the best idea. I think it’d be much better if you sat down and solved the problems.”

This whole ‘prison’ thing is nonsense. DeSantis didn’t threaten or suggest he’d build a prison on the land next to Disney. He was merely being funny when he made the comments and wasn’t serious at all:

I know Kevin McCarthy wants people to believe he’s a strong conservative and what not, but this right here is a perfect example of McCarthy showing his soft underbelly.

Governor DeSantis is doing what is necessary because of Disney’s outlandish actions to try and prevent him from protecting children from the alphabet mafia. And the people support him doing this. In a recent poll DeSantis had 56% of all voters supporting his actions against Disney:

McCarthy should be supporting DeSantis in all of this, just as all Republicans should. He’s on the right side of this issue.
