UH OH REPORT: Kristi Noem is now WAVERING on whether to sign bill than bans biological males from women’s sports

So confident that Governor Kristi Noem would sign a bill banning biological males from competing in women’s sports, I wrote an article ten days ago declaring that South Dakota had banned this based on the legislature sending the bill to Noem’s desk.

But now it looks like that confidence may have been misplaced:

DAILY CALLER – After expressing her excitement to sign a bill banning biological males from women’s sports, Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is wavering in her support for the legislation due to pressure from groups in South Dakota, the Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

Noem said as recently as March 8 that she was “excited” to sign H.B. 1217, a bill that not only bans biological males from participating in women’s sports but also establishes that there are only two biological sexes (male and female) and that there are “inherent” differences between men and women.

This is the tweet from Noem they reference:

The bill was sent to Noem’s desk on March 10, but the governor has since suggested that she may not sign it.

Noem’s office did not directly address why she is wavering in her support for the bill, but confirmed that the governor has not made up her mind on whether she will sign it.

“Governor Noem is still weighing 106 pieces of legislation that have action due next Friday, and that is one of them,” Noem’s communications director Ian Fury told the DCNF Friday morning.

“We’re still looking at it, and I probably, in the next two to three days, will come to a decision,” Noem said in a Thursday interview with the Argus Leader. “It’s a complicated bill, even in that there are parts of it that aren’t written so well.”

How does she go from being excited to sign the bill to having to carefully weigh over multiple days whether to sign it? If she’s bowing to liberal or even RINO pressure on this bill, that will tank support for her among conservatives everywhere.

Noem brands herself as a tough conservative, but true toughness is doing what’s right when so many are calling it wrong. And we know this is absolutely the right thing to do. It is patently unfair for men to compete in women’s sports.

Also, if she truly has problems with the language of the bill, she should have been involved with the legislature when they were passing it to ensure it was right. No excuses now.

I really hope Noem doesn’t fold here, but this ‘wavering’ has now made her seem weaker than I would have hoped, assuming this report is correct and we have the facts right.
