Trump has been trying to prevent the release of eight years of his tax records to the district attorney in Manhattan, who is investigating Trump’s reimbursements to Michael Cohen. Cohen paid off Stormy Daniels back in 2016. But a judge ruled that Trump can’t stop his accountants from releasing his tax records per a subpoena:
BLOOMBERG – President Donald Trump may lose control of his tax filings after years of defying a modern presidential norm of disclosing them to the public, Bloomberg News reports.
A federal judge in New York ruled that Trump can’t stop his accountants, Mazars USA LLP, from turning over his taxes and other financial documents to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., whose office is investigating whether the Trump Organization falsified business records related to hush-money payments.

Lawyers for Mr. Trump quickly told the court they would appeal the ruling from Judge Victor Marrero of Manhattan federal court. The president’s lawyers could not immediately be reached for comment.
The judge apparently didn’t care for Trump’s legal arguments in this case…
In a 75-page ruling, Judge Marrero called president’s argument “repugnant to the nation’s governmental structure and constitutional values.” Presidents, their families and businesses are not above the law, the judge ruled.
I would imagine this appeal by Trump’s lawyers will happen very quickly in order to prevent the release of their tax records.
