The UK has created new rules for it’s government healthcare that would allow them to refuse non-emergency treatment for racist or sexist patients:
SKY NEWS – Sexist and racist patients could be barred from non-emergency care at NHS trusts, under new rules to be enforced from April.
Currently, staff can refuse to treat non-critical patients who are verbally aggressive or physically violent towards them.
But these protections will extend to any harassment, bullying or discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock wrote to all NHS staff on Tuesday to announce stronger measures to investigate abuse and harassment towards staff, saying “no act of violence or abuse is minor”.
“Being assaulted or abused is not part of the job,” he said.
“Far too often I hear stories that the people you are trying to help lash out. I’ve seen it for myself in A&Es, on night shifts, and on ambulances.”
Mr Hancock said he was “horrified that any member of the public would abuse or physically assault a member of our NHS staff but it happens too often”.
I’ve got no problems with refusing treatment of someone who is constantly being an a-hole. I agree that employees of the NHS have a right not to be harassed, bullied, or even physically assaulted.
What concerns me is that, in a politically correct society, how this will actually play out. ‘Abuse’ doesn’t necessarily mean what it used to mean. On college campuses all across the US ‘triggering’ someone is considered abuse, and thus safe zones are created to protect the frail snowflakes. What happens when a well-known racist in the country needs to be hospitalized for cancer treatments or something? Will they be turned away because of what they believe? Or do they have to hurl insults and abuses at the staff in order to be turned down?
Or maybe a Christian patient who refuses to use the proper pronoun for whatever gender the staff uses. Will they be considered sexist and blackballed?
As Ted Cruz said the other day, what the government gives it can take away. If the government deems racists or Christians to be a plague on society, the government can mandate they can’t receive healthcare. It’s that simple. This is socialism.
