The chairman of the American Conservative Union which hosts CPAC every year, Matt Schlapp, just said the quiet part out loud, as one user put it.
Schlapp argued that we needed to unite behind one nominee so we could pay Trump’s legal defense…or something.
Here’s the tweet:
The sooner we unify behind a nominee that sooner we can use resources to fund the defenses of everyone indicted for being a Trump Republican. This is become about a bigger principle than just one man. https://t.co/2kLux9I9Wa

There are plenty of Trump supporters who will gladly help Trump pay his legal bills. But for Schlapp to suggest that all candidates drop out just so we can all pay Trump’s legal bills? That’s insane. How much is Trump paying him to say that?
Color me crazy but I thought the primary was about selecting a nominee to become president, not paying someone’s legal bills.
Here’s a little reaction from the X-verse:
When you say the quiet part out loud…
No, we shouldn’t cancel the primary so you clowns have an easier time scamming donors. https://t.co/6vbdFCzjZJ

Well Matt, you're free to donate as much of your own money to Trump's legal defense fund as you like. Start writing some checks.

Or, instead, Trump should drop out of the race and free up the GOP to refocus its resources back to defeating Biden and the Democrats. This isn’t hard. https://t.co/VpabfUr1PX

At least he’s saying it out loud. It’s just about paying legal fees. https://t.co/IVnIvNxQQu

While we’re on the subject of Trump, here’s a tidbit I just learned this morning…
The Congressman was invited by RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel
