Undecided Democrat in Trump-voting district has now made her decision on impeachment…

Elissa Slotkin, an undecided freshman Democrat from a 2016 Trump district in Michigan, told Fox News on Friday that she was going to go home this past weekend, lay out all the evidence, and thus make a decision on impeachment:

She mentioned in the interview that she is a former CIA officer who served in Iraq, suggesting that is one of the reasons she needed to do it this way.

But if you were holding out hope that she might be open-minded and stand against her caucus, you will be disappointed:

FOX NEWS – Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., whose district voted for President Trump in 2016, has announced that she will vote for impeachment when the House takes up the issue later this week.

Slotkin wrote in a Monday op-ed for the Detroit Free Press that while she previously did not join her party’s calls for Trump’s ouster, she believes the evidence regarding the president’s dealings with Ukraine are too much to let voters decide Trump’s fate in November.

“To be clear, presidents from both parties have leveraged the powerful role of the United States to get foreign countries to do what’s in our interest,” Slotkin acknowledged. But she said the difference was that “President Trump used the power of the presidency for his own benefit, to give himself some advantage in the very election that would determine whether he remained in office.”

In other words, she’s just another partisan Democrat who hates Trump and wants to impeach him despite there being no evidence of any impeachable offense.

I was very skeptical of her claims on Friday, wondering how anyone who has watched all the hearings that we’ve watched could still be undecided. It felt like a stunt to me then and it definitely feels like one now, and I hope the people in her Trump-voting district see right through it and kick her out in 2020.
