Several FBI notes have just been unsealed and made public, and the most revealing thing about the notes is one of the comments made by an agent going to interview Flynn, asking “what is our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?”:

As Techno Fog points out, there appeared to be only interested in referring Flynn to the DOJ instead of actually investigating Flynn’s contacts with the Russians:
How they planned to get Flynn removed:
1) Get Flynn “to admit to breaking the Logan Act”; or
2) Catch Flynn in a lie.
