As US troops were leaving Northern Syria, Turkish backed forces threatened US troops which led to a show of force involving American F-35s and Apache gunships:

U.S. lodged formal complaint with the Turkish military after the incident through diplomatic channels.
The American Special Operations forces were partnered with Syrian Kurdish allies during the encounter which took place a few hours ago, the official added.

In related news, Pence and Pompeo are going to Turkey to try and negotiate a ceasefire:
