We haven’t been following the Johnny Depp lawsuit against his abusive wife ex-wife Amber Heard, but since the trial has been televised and there is so much interest in the verdict, we thought we’d bring it to you.
Here’s the short version of what the case is about:
Verdict in the Johnny Depp, Amber Heard defamation trial to be pronounced shortly by the Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia. Actor Johnny Depp has sued his ex-wife for $50mn for a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed she was a victim of domestic violence.

The verdict is in:

A Virginia jury has found Amber Heard liable in the defamation trial.
The jury found that Amber Heard defamed Johnny Depp and did so with malice.
The verdict was unanimous.

The jury has awarded Depp $15 million:
VERDICT: Regarding Depp’s claims predicated on the 3 statements made by Heard, the jury has found that Heard is liable for defamation for all 3 of her statements in the 2018 op-ed.
Compensatory Damages: $10 million
Punitive Damages: $5 million

UPDATE: The jury has also found Johnny Depp liable of defamation in part and awarded Amber Heard 2 million in her countersuit:

Regarding Heard’s counterclaim, the jury has found Depp NOT LIABLE for her first claim.
Re the second claim, Depp is LIABLE.
Re the third claim, Depp is NOT LIABLE.
