[VIDEO] Lynne Cheney Stands By Clinton/Vanity Fair Theory: ‘That’s My Case And I’m Staying With It’

On Fox News Sunday this morning, the former Vice President and Mrs. Cheney were on to discuss a variety of issues, among them Hillary Clinton’s prospects in 2016. Host Chris Wallace asked Lynne Cheney about Vanity Fair’s recent article by Monica Lewinsky, a story about which Mrs. Cheney has already made news in recent weeks.

Wallace asks why Cheney might feel that the Clinton camp would be pleased about the story, without directly referencing her having suggested they were behind the story in the first place. However, Cheney addresses that directly anyway, essentially doubling down on her prior comments.

Well I was really paying the Clintons a large compliment. I was saying how clever they are politically. And that it seemed to me if you had something that might come up during the campaign that would be damaging, it was very smart to get it out of the way early. So, that’s my case Chris and I’m staying with it.

The left has gone into Clinton defense overdrive over Cheney’s comments about Hillary having approved the Vanity Fair piece. On MSNBC the day after the remarks were made, every single host on the channel mocked the idea saying ‘when did Hillary Clinton become an editor at Vanity Fair” or something very close to those exact words. It is the height of stupidity to play babe in the woods politics here. Obviously powerful people have a say in stories that are run in national publications routinely. The idea that the sympathetic Vanity Fair might ask the Hillary camp how they would feel about a Lewinsky article is not only not far-fetched, if it occurred it would practically be mundane. But the left-wing outrage machine is going to be at Defcon one all through 2016 over Hillary, and this is just the first example.

Lynne Cheney made a perfectly reasonable hypothesis. She elaborated on it this morning. Simmer down, hand-wringers.
