Video: Mike Pence at CPAC 2009 – I can get another Job. I can’t get another Country.

Rep. Mike Pence (IN) I first heard of Mike Pence last year thanks to Michelle Malkin’s following of the first bailout saga of 2008 and this is the quote has always stood out in my mind since I read Michelle’s post:

“To have the freedom to succeed, we must preserve the freedom to fail. Any solution to our present crisis must preserve our essential economic freedom.”

I remember that making so much sense to me.  Mike Pence said this as one of the few voices that stood against the first bailout in September of 2008, and has consistently been a fiscal conservative since.

And now there is a new quote that stands in my mind from his speech at CPAC 2009:

“The morning after the banking bailout last fall, I was back home at a Boy Scout Jamboree. And a man of very modest means approached me on that hillside in Henry county.  Hat in his hand, he told me he’d been fired from his job the day before.

And then he said words that I’ll never forget.  He said , “Congressman, I came by to thank you for voting against that wall street bailout.  Cause, he said, I can get another job – I can’t get another country”

After hearing his passionate speech and realizing that here stands a man that is fighting for this country, fighting for both you and me, I realized that I want to vote for him in 2012.  I did manage to shake his hand and thanked him for his speech. And I told him I’d like to see his name on the ballot in 2012.  I hope he follows through because I believe the country would be behind him.
