Stacey Abrams was caught on video telling an audience that a baby’s heartbeat at six weeks is nothing more than a conspiracy to allow men to control women’s bodies.
Totally not kidding:
Abrams says “There is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks. It is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman’s body.”
Unbelievable. The science on this is not only settled, but it’s ‘peer reviewed’. And yet she’s bizarrely claiming a fetal heartbeat doesn’t exist?

Indeed, the nonprofit Charlotte Lozier Institute confirms that “A preborn baby’s heart is actively beating at 6 weeks and will have already beat nearly 16 million times by 15 weeks. In fact, at 6 weeks’ gestation, the baby’s heart rate is about 98 beats per minute, which can be easily detected by ultrasound.”

The peer-reviewed science on babies at 6 weeks’ gestation includes:
- The heart is actively beating at 6 weeks. Between conception and birth the baby’s heart will beat approximately 54 million times.
- The baby’s average heart rate is 98 BPM. This will rise to 175 BPM by 9 weeks’ gestation.
- The presence of a heartbeat at 6-8 weeks’ gestation correlates with a live birth rate of 98% in normal pregnancies without intervention.
- The brain has divided into three primary sections responsible for sensing and decision-making, moving and tracking objects, and vital body functions.
- Eyes, ears, and nose start forming.
A local news agency asked medical doctors about this and they all agreed that cardiac activity is present at six weeks:
They quibble about it not being a fully formed heart, but two of the three say ‘fetal heartbeat’ is the correct term and the other says it’s definitely cardiac activity.
So for Stacey Abrams to make these absurd claims just shows how much of a leftist lunatic she truly is these days.
