Rich Lowry says that what we are witnessing against the Christians in Egypt is ‘heartbreaking’ and that it may spell the beginning of tremendous persecution of Christians in Egypt, such that there may be only few if any Christians left in Egypt in the coming years. Walid Phares similarly believes that the Muslim Brotherhood is perpetrating an ‘indirect ethnic cleansing,’ which means that because of the constant terrorism against the Christians they will just pack up and leave Egypt. Phares points out this is such a big deal because despite being only 10% of the population, there are still 12 million Christians in Egypt. He says there are more Christians in Egypt than there are Palestinians in Gaza.
