Aaron Rodgers is up for the NFL’s MVP award again this year and apparently there are about 50 people who vote on the player who gets the award. One of those voters came out yesterday and blasted Rodgers, calling him the “biggest jerk in the league.”
FOX NEWS – At least one voter for this year’s NFL MVP says he won’t be backing the frontrunner, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“I think he’s a bad guy,” Hub Arkush, editor and general manager of Chicago Football magazine, said of Rodgers during an appearance on Chicago radio station WSCR-AM.
Rodgers is expected to win the MVP award for the second year in a row – but Arkush claimed he doesn’t deserve it this year because of his dramatic and turbulent offseason.
“I don’t think you can be the biggest jerk in the league and punish your team, and your organization and your fan base the way he did and be the most valuable player,” Arkush said on the sports radio station.
Before the current season began, Rodgers hinted at retiring or joining another team after he openly criticized the Packers’ front office and voiced his disappointment in their draft selections.
But, Rodgers ultimately played — leading his team to an NFL-best 13-3 record (with one week to go), capturing the NFC North divisional title, and securing a first-round bye in the postseason.
“Has he been the most valuable on the field? Yeah, you could make that argument, but I don’t think he is clearly that much more valuable than Jonathan Taylor (Colts running back) or Cooper Kupp (Rams wide receiver) or maybe even Tom Brady (Buccaneers QB). So from where I sit, the rest of it is why he’s not gonna be my choice,” Arkush said.
“Do I think he’s gonna win it? Probably,” he told the station. “A lot of voters don’t approach it the way I do, but others do, who I’ve spoken to. But one of the ways we get to keep being voters is we’re not allowed to say who we are voting for until after the award has been announced. I’m probably pushing the envelope by saying who I’m not voting for. But we’re not really supposed to reveal our votes.
Justifying the nonvote, Arkush said: “I just think that the way he’s carried himself is inappropriate. I think he’s a bad guy, and I don’t think a bad guy can be the most valuable guy at the same time.”
Rodgers was asked about this today, and he responded saying that Arkush has never met him and doesn’t really know anything about him. Rodgers said he thinks Arkush is an absolute bum and said he believes Arkush’s real beef with him is that he’s unvaccinated:

Rodgers said:
“I think he’s an absolute bum. He doesn’t know me. I don’t know who he is – no one knew who he was probably until yesterday’s comments. …To say he had his mind made up in the summertime, in the offseason, that I zero chance of winning the MVP, in my opinion should exclude future votes.
His problem isn’t with me being a bad guy or the biggest jerk in the league because he doesn’t know me. He doesn’t know anything about me. I’ve never met him. I’ve never had lunch with him. I’ve never had an interview with him. His problem is that I’m not vaccinated. So if he wants to go on a crusade and collude and come up with an extra letter to put on the award just for this season, and make it the most valuable vaccinated player, then he should do that. But he’s a bum.
There are already calls for Arkush’s voting rights to be taken away from him and clearly Rodgers believes that should be the case in the future, as Arkush’s bias against him has nothing to do with his on-the-field-play which is what the award is all about. I couldn’t agree more.
In related news, Rodgers trolled the leftist vaxx mandate crowd on Monday night while on ESPN for the Steeler game, noting that he had a book by Ayn Rand on the bookshelf behind him. This apparently sent the left into a tizzy.
Video is poor quality but it’s the only one I could find. Rodgers admitted yesterday that he hasn’t actually read the book. Which means it was definitely just a troll. Awesome.
