More from WOWKTV:

A violent home invasion was caught on camera when four men burst through the door of a home in Kentucky, but they soon discovered the man inside was already armed. The home security cameras caught what happened next.

Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower said, “During the video, you can see that it looks like there was four individuals that kicked the door in. As they approached his bedroom he exchanged fire with them.”

Police say the man was inside his home asleep when just before midnight these men kicked the door opened and entered the home.

According to Sheriff Hightower says several shots were fired before the suspects ran from the scene.

“We don’t know if any of the suspects were injured as well, but the resident himself was taken here locally and then transferred to a Louisville hospital,” said Sheriff Hightower.

Officials say the homeowner was shot in his right hand. Now deputies are hoping this video can help him find those responsible.

What makes me a little suspicious is how soon the homeowner was able to shoot back – almost as if he was expecting something. But maybe he’s just quick on the draw, perhaps because it’s a bad neighborhood or something. In any case, I’d hate to think what would have happened if he hadn’t been armed.

Sheriff Hightower said, “It kind of plays into with what the mindset of those individuals were when they forcibly made entry into somebody’s home, came in there armed, and attempting to locate somebody and exchanging gunfire with them and shooting somebody. It’s invaluable to have that type of video footage.”

Hopefully they catch these animals and get them off the streets.
