Beto O’Rourke was on Morning Joe today and was asked about his insane gun confiscation plan that he’s been touting on the campaign trail and last night at the debate:
Joe Scarborough asks Beto about the person who bought their AR-15 legally and refuses to turn it in because they see his new gun confiscation law as unconstitutional and they need it for protection. What then?
“I think just as any law is not followed or flagrantly abused, there have to be consequences or else there is no respect for the law. So in that case I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and make sure that it is purchased back so that it cannot be potentially used against somebody else.”
That is one scary answer. I’m sure dictators around the world are grinning from ear to ear.
But does he really think Americans are going to roll over and allow the government to unconstitutionally confiscate their private property like this? If the tree of liberty ever needed to be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants, as Thomas Jefferson once wrote, this would be the reason that began that “refreshing”.
