Beto O’Rourke got booed tonight when he dismissed the “thoughts and prayers” that people offered up after the Santa Fe school shooting earlier this year:
The line from Beto that triggered the boos was this: “thoughts and prayers Senator Cruz are just not going to cut it anymore.”
Then Cruz ripped into to him hard, telling Beto that his votes for more armed police officers in schools aren’t “thoughts and prayers”. And then he let him have it saying:
“I’m sorry that you don’t like thoughts and prayers. I will pray for anyone in harm’s way! But I’ll also do something about it…”
The crowd loved it, cheering for Cruz when he wrecked Beto.
