This is unreal. CNN selectively edited a video of President Trump’s conversation with Elon Musk last night and played it on air to literally claim they said something that was completely false.
Here’s the video from CNN where host Dana Bash claimed that Trump and Musk were “blowing off” the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki:
But that’s NOT what they were saying at all. They were talking about nuclear electricity and how people are uneasy about it.
Trump made the point about what people have said in the past about how it would take thousands of years for a place that’s been hit with a nuclear bomb to be re-occuppied by people. Musk responded by pointing out that he was being asked by people in California if they could expect a nuclear cloud coming after the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown in 2011 following a massive earthquake. He said what happened was not that bad and actually went to Fukushima and ate locally grown vegetables on TV to prove it that what happened wasn’t even dangerous in Fukushima.
At the very end of the discussion Musk made the comment “Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed but now they’re full cities again. So it’s clearly not something that – it’s not as scary as people think basically”.
It’s more than clear Musk was talking about nuclear energy and not “blowing off” the impact of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
