Yeah, that Abolish ICE thing isn’t as ‘fringe’ as the democrats like to pretend when confronted about it. In fact, at Netroots Nation over the weekend, which celebrated socialism and Elizabeth Warren and “intersectionality” – and is the bleeding, beating heart of the activist wing of democrats (not to mention the resistance) big names like Deval Patrick joined the frenzy against ICE that was first made mainstream by newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
In her speech, she accused ICE of having ““violently committed human rights abuses”, and said that it can’t be reformed. “Take away that tool” she urged, meaning abolish the law enforcement agency (and consequently enforcement of those laws) so that President Trump and Republicans can no longer protect the border.
But like I said, it’s not just her anymore. Listen to Deval Patrick on CNN this morning with Jake Tapper.
“The sadistic policies and practices of ICE today have got to go,” he said. “Sadistic”? After the above clip, Tapper presses him again on whether he wants to abolish ICE, and he says we need somebody to “do the job of ICE” and the name of the agency doesn’t matter.
Folks, that’s what you call the transition. They start with “these policies are mean” and end with “abolish ICE” and open borders.
This is going mainstream in the party. You just watch.
