A candidate for Congress in Florida, Maria Elvira Salazar, whose parents escaped Cuba 60 years ago just released a video tonight responding to Comrade Bernie’s comments about Fidel Castro:
Last night, Bernie Sanders praised the murderous Fidel Castro for his “free literacy programs” for Cubans.
As someone who’s parents fled Castro’s totalitarian regime for a better life in America, I find it utterly APPALLING that he praised him!
He should be ashamed! pic.twitter.com/P5xZpozVrz

Salazar points out to Bernie that Castro’s regime is not authoritarian, it’s totalitarian. She says Castro separated millions from their families and destroyed the island.
She really lights into him about him praising Castro’s literacy programs:
And now sixty years later, you as the leading Democratic presidential candidate, you’re praising him? You say he did some good things for the Cubans? He taught them how to read?
What about those dead on the firing squad. Mr. Sanders, what are you thinking? What about those dead, eaten by the sharks in the Florida strait trying to escape to Miami?
She said Bernie sounds like Castro does when he talks about the United States, and makes the huge point that nobody is risking everything to escape to Cuba from Miami. She says Bernie’s words are dangerous, scary, and are confusing our young people.
