Governor DeSantis revealed today that Florida played a part in Twitter’s board of directors decision to reconsider Elon Musk’s offer over the weekend, which obviously led to them accepting it today.
Watch:
DeSantis said that since Florida’s Board of Administration is a shareholder of Twitter, they sent the board a letter last week which went something like this: ‘Look, Elon Musk is putting a very good offer on the table and you better have a good business reason for why you are not doing it because if it’s for politics, we’re going to hold you accountable.’
The crowd cheered when DeSantis announced that Twitter had accepted the offer from Musk.
DeSantis went on to rip into the media saying “I just think it’s very telling that you have some of these legacy media outlets in DC and New York saying that this is such a bad thing because Musk believes in free speech.”
He continued noting that when Twitter began they billed themselves as open platforms, but now says they’ve become ‘enforcers of the narrative’, silencing people who dissent from that narrative.
DeSantis said that from a shareholder perspective, Florida is 100% supportive of Musk buying Twitter, calling it “a blow for free speech”

As a side note…
From my sources: Vocal Twitter employees on internal chats indicate their biggest fear is Donald Trump being unbanned. Many express strong hatred toward @elonmusk & say they’re sick of hearing about “free speech.” They’re concerned about their mental health. #ElonMuskBuyTwitter
