The interview with Governor DeSantis on CBS Evening News continued today and one of the subjects was abortion. Of course. (You can watch the full interview at the bottom of this post.)
Host Norah O’Donnell accused the heartbeat law of penalizing women who participate in abortions, but DeSantis quickly put that to rest.

🚨 WATCH: @RonDeSantis shut downs CBS' Norah O'Donnell pushing a manufactured narrative about Florida's Heartbeat law.

Here’s the full transcript:
O’Donnell: “We asked the governor whether the penalties mentioned in Florida’s six-week ban would include women.”
DeSantis: “We have no criminal penalties – the penalties are for the physician.”
O’Donnell: “Governor, I read the bill. It says just this. It does include jail time and fines for ‘any person who willfully performs or actively participates in a termination of pregnancy.’”
DeSantis: “Right — and that’s for the providers. That is not for the women. ”
O’Donnell: “Is a woman not actively participating in the termination of a pregnancy?”
DeSantis: “No because she’s not a medical practitioner.”
O’Donnell: So you are not for criminalizing women.
DeSantis: No, no. Absolutely not. And that will not happen in Florida.
Governor DeSantis also hit back hard against the phony narrative of Florida being ‘hostile’ to blacks. His answer on this was terrific:
When accused of being openly hostile to minorities, DeSantis politely but firmly shuts down the fake news narratives by pointing to how well minorities do in Florida.
This messaging will win more minority voters over than telling them you're relatable because you have a mugshot. pic.twitter.com/t3EMUbA30n
